Violet Below introduces a darker, more subterranean terrain within the Strange Harvest universe. Built around violet, dry roots, luminous florals, powdered suede, and tart rhubarb, the fragrance explores the hidden architecture beneath the bloom. A root perfume that happens to bloom.
The opening is cool, crisp, and slightly acidic. Tart rhubarb cuts through violet petals and luminous florals, while narcissus and heliotrope bring a pale, powdered softness. Rather than opening into a conventional bouquet, the florals feel suspended somewhere between natural and engineered. Violet rendered almost synthetic.
As it moves into the heart, powder and suede begin to soften the surface while dry root accords emerge underneath. Carrot seed and vetiver create a clean, bitter root structure rather than something earthy or damp. A subtle petroleum nuance moves briefly through the composition, giving the violet an unexpected glossy edge before disappearing back below the surface. Powder above. Roots below.
The dry down settles into radiant musks, suede, and dry roots that remain intertwined with the floral heart. The fragrance reveals itself gradually, bringing the roots further into focus as it wears. Cool, restrained, and quietly strange. A floral perfume viewed from the perspective of the roots.

Walking in the park yesterday & kept getting whiffs of something gorgeous. It was me 😊 It’s now day 2 of wearing Strange Harvest Praying Manthus from Strange Harvest. As a perfume lover it’s extremely terrific to find a creation that makes me swoon, makes me think & makes question how it all works together. It’s bright, it’s airy, it’s a bit green, a bit floral, it’s all the THINGS & it has a unique Edge. Praying Manthus is not a loud scent but an experience.
